SwissRapide Express East

In the project SwissRapide Express East, a line route with a distance of 42 km between the main stations of Zurich and Winterthur is in planning. The possibility of a stop at the Zurich international airport is also being investigated. The travel time would be approximately 10 minutes, dependent on the stop at the airport. The route and the stations must yet be co-ordinated with the canton, the cities and municipalities in the region within the context of the feasibility study.
With departures every 10 minutes during peak hours, SwissRapide offers at least 6-fold capacity for the line between Zurich and Winterthur, compared with today's railway services.
